The fact no casualties, but property damage. At 16:15 on Monday April 27, 2015, the Fire Department went to Plaza Colón building, located at Av. Columbus and October 9, in the north of Quito.
After an emergency call that warned of an explosion, 10 troops had to carry down from the terrace to enter the floor where the emergency occurred. On site, a residential apartment, people were not.
The fact caused alarm among the residents of the building and the people who passed by Columbus and October 9, when they saw the fire come down from the facade of the building attached to ropes.
Firefighters verified that there was no danger for the inhabitants of the department or to their neighbors and left the place after leaving the area secured. The incident left material damage, which included broken glass, porcelain, etc.
According to the Fire Department, between 2009 and 2014 in Quito 245 3533 reporting explosions and gas leaks were reported. The highest incidence was reported in 2014, when there were 65 881 explosions and gas leaks.
