In the City Hall they are veiled the two firefighters who died yesterday at the parish of Puembo (northeast of Quito) while trying to douse a forest fire of great proportions.
A coffins Jonathan Dionicio and Jonathan Nasimba them accompanied their families and the band of the Fire Department of the Metropolitan District of Quito from one of its stations in the Vintimilla and Juan Leon Mera (north) street where they received a posthumous tribute.
As he passed the coffins received applause from the people. Quito Mayor Mauricio Rodas was present at the arrival of the fallen and walked with the family to the City Hall where a ceremony was held to recognize the value of the cadets.
The head of the Fire Department of Quito, Colonel Eber Arroyo issued a heartfelt speech, he praised the courage and dedication of the men and women who risk their lives for others. He also decreed the rank of second lieutenant of the deceased cadets.
The mayor promised to seek out those who cause forest fires and initiate all legal actions necessary to identify those responsible and fire that caused the death of Dionicio and Nasimba.
Yesterday, the City Mayor Mauricio Rodas said that "the city should honor characters who take their responsibility, so highly, as these brave young men who gave their lives in the name of duty, ensuring the safety of Quito".
As part of this tribute, the Fire Brigade Stations in Nanegalito and Bicentennial Park will be baptized with the names of the two lieutenants.
